As Manipur violence completed one year, Congress took a 'Cloud & Radar' dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Sharing a post on X, an excerpt of an interview of PM Modi given to a news channel, the PM can be seen talking about airstrikes that the Indian Air Force conducted on Pakistan, he mentioned a "cloud and radar" advantage in context to the strikes. Taking a swipe at PM, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said, "The Prime Minister thinks that clouds block radar. Are clouds also blocking Manipur from landing on his radar?"

In a separate X post, Ramesh said, "Exactly a year ago today, Manipur erupted - or more accurately, was made to erupt by the cynical and divisive politics of the ruling BJP". 

"Even the Supreme Court has bemoaned the breakdown of Constitutional machinery in the state. What is astounding is that just fifteen months earlier in the assembly elections the BJP and its allies had received a thundering mandate. That mandate evaporated on May 3rd, 2023 entirely because of the BJP's own (mis)calculations and manipulations," he said. 

"Even amidst this civil war-like situation, the Prime Minister has been eloquent in his silence. He has not met with the Chief Minister, the MLAs, or the political parties of the state. He has not visited Manipur even for a few minutes, even though he has been to Assam, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh for his campaign," he added. 

Echoing similar sentiments, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Humanity perished in Manipur". 

"A remorseless PM Modi has not set foot in this border state, for it exposes his rank incompetency and absolute indifference. His ego has damaged the social fabric of a beautiful state," he said. 

On May 3, 2023, ethnic violence broke out in parts of the northeastern state of Manipur between the two communities. The tribal community Kuki, and the non-tribal, Meitei clashed over the proposed inclusion of the latter in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category. Since then, the state has witnessed several spates of tensions with incidents.
