New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said the BJP will win all the constituencies covered by Congress’s Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra in the state, news agency PTI reported. Speaking to the reporters, CM Sarma said, “The BJP will win wherever he campaigns. The BJP needs him for that reason.”

His remarks came two days after an FIR was registered against Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders for allegedly provoking the supporters to break barricades to enter Guwahati during the yatra.

CM Sarma also said that Rahul Gandhi will be arrested after the Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, taking a dig at CM Sarma over his remarks against Gandhi, Karnataka Congress leader Priyank Kharge said why was the Congress leader not being arrested yet if he has indeed violated norms.

Taking to X, Kharge wrote, “Why wait for the Lok Sabha elections @himantabiswa ji? If @RahulGandhiji has broken the law, why don't you go ahead and do the needful? "You won't do that, because you are fully aware that he speaks the truth, you did not stand up for your neighbours in Manipur and are looting the people of Assam. He is merely echoing people's sentiments which scares you.”

Mocking Kharge over his post, Sarma replied, “We need Rahul Gandhi during election, Brother.''

“Bhaisaab! Even after ten years, you need your star campaigners Godhi media, CBI, IT, ED. Take them out of the equation and you will see your castles crumbling. Your leader cannot sit through a press conference nor address without a teleprompter, forget about doing a Padyatra with the people,” Priyank Kharge wrote in his reply to CM Sarma’s post.
