Army, Educational Firm Help Students Prepare For NEET Exams In Crisis-Hit Manipur

The Indian Army in collaboration with a Kanpur-based firm is helping students in crisis-hit Manipur prepare for the NEET exams.

Guwahati: The Indian Army in collaboration with the National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NIrEDO), a Kanpur-based educational trust, is helping around 50 students in strife-torn Manipur to prepare for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), 2023 from a boarding coaching facility for 50 in the state's Bishnupur district. A focused endeavor has been put in by providing regular counseling, quality time, a safe environment, and essential amenities, to the aspirants and disengaging them from stress, and trauma to help them concentrate and prepare for the NEET exam in the wake of the current situation in the state. Hailing from different communities, the students continue to stay here with each other, peacefully.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, an irate mob vandalised the house of Manipur Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Konthoujam Govindas in the state’s Bishnupur district.

The agitated mob claimed that the Manipur government is yet to take sufficient and proper measures to protect the local people, from militants and armed miscreants belonging to other communities.

Violence erupted in Manipur on May 3 during a “tribal solidarity march” in protest against the Meiteis’ demand for Scheduled Tribes (ST) status.

Tension was already brewing in the state in view of the eviction of Kuki villagers from the reserve forest lands. The May 3 incident further fueled the situation, thus adding to the woes. The violent clashes in the state have so far claimed over 73 lives besides leaving more than 230 people injured.  Over 1,700 houses have been reduced to ashes after being torched by miscreants.

Unrest In Manipur Continues With Three Incidents Of Violence, Minister’s House Vandalised

Unrest in strife-torn Manipur continues as three fresh incidents of violence were reported in Kadangband of Imphal West district after which the security has been tightened in the area. As per Security Advisor to the Manipur government, Kuldeep Singh, the incident took place at around 1:30 am “by some suspected armed miscreants”. One person received bullet injuries on his right little finger and right thigh after which he was evacuated to RIMS Hospital for treatment, he added, reported ANI.
