New Delhi: In a major embarrassment to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan during his joint press conference with Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UNGA session, the US President mocked a Pakistani journalist for his statement on Jammu and Kashmir.

In the presence of Khan, Trump took a jibe at Pakistan reporters and asked him (Khan), “where do you find reporters like these?”

As a reporter from Pakistan reiterated Pakistan’s narrative on Jammu and Kashmir, Trump asked him whether he was a member of Khan’s team.

“Are you from his (Imran Khan's) team?” Trump asked.

As the reporter continued, Trump interrupted to say  “You’re not asking a question, I will consider that as a statement.”

When the reporter again asked Trump about the alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, he turned towards Khan and asked him, “Where do you find reporters like these,” evoking a laughter in the hall.

In another jibe at Khan, during his bilateral meeting, Trump told Khan that he lives in a very friendly neighbourhood when the latter spoke about matters related to Afghanistan, India and Kashmir.

Khan was saying that he wants to talk to Trump about all three neighbours Afghanistan, India and Kashmir and about Iran. Before he could complete, Trump interrupted and said laughing “he lives in a very friendly neighbourhood.”
