Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day visit to the US, thanked US President Joe Biden for hosting him at his residence in Greenville, Delaware and said their talks were "extremely fruitful". "We had the opportunity to discuss regional and global issues during the meeting," PM Modi said on X, while sharing pictures from their meeting.
PM Modi received a warm welcome as he landed in Philadelphia on Saturday. A large number of people from the Indian community in the US had gathered at the Philadelphia International Airport. PM Modi interacted with the Indian community on his arrival as people jostled to get a selfie with him.
President Biden received PM Modi at his residence and led him inside holding his hand.
"The United States' partnership with India is stronger, closer, and more dynamic than any time in history. Prime Minister Modi, each time we sit down, I'm struck by our ability to find new areas of cooperation. Today was no different," Biden said.
Both leaders also discussed defence and security cooperation even as Washington is pushing New Delhi to give its green signal to some of the big-ticket deals owing to purchase of 31 MQ-9B drones (16 Sky Guardian and 15 Sea Guardian) for all the three armed forces of India and also GE-F414 fighter jet engines deal.
"The Leaders commended the progress that has made the U.S.-India Major Defense Partnership a pillar of global security and peace, highlighting the benefits of increased operational coordination, information-sharing, and defense industrial innovation,” the White House said.
