New Delhi: A senior Pakistani bureaucrat has left his country red-faced after he was caught on camera stealing the wallet of a Kuwaiti official.


The bureaucrat who apparently forgot about the CCTV cameras installed tried to slip into his pockets a wallet of a Kuwaiti official that was left unguarded on a table. The Kuwaiti official was a part of a delegation that visited Pakistan to discuss investment plans.

After the meeting got over and the delegates left the hall, a Kuwaiti official reportedly left his wallet on a table. A Pakistani official, reportedly a grade-20 officer, whisked the wallet into the pocket of jacket.

A six second long CCTV clip of the incident was shared on Twitter by Pakistani journalist Omar R Quraishi.

The Kuwaiti official when registered a complaint about his missing wallet with his Pakistani counterparts, the authorities searched the missing wallet in all the rooms in the ministry and also quizzed the junior level employees.’

Later the CCTV footage helped the authorities to find that it was stolen by senior official. As per reports when confronted, the senior official first denied his involvement in the theft, but later returned the wallet to the authorities.
