New Delhi: Pakistan’s Opposition parties on Tuesday submitted a no-trust motion with the National Assembly Secretariat against Prime Minister Imran Khan, reported Dawn. 


Under the no-trust motion, Pakistan’s senior opposition lawmakers submitted two documents — first, to requisition the National Assembly as it is presently not in session, and second, a resolution calling for a no-confidence vote against PM Imran Khan. 


The requisition has been signed by 140 Members of National Assembly, stated the above quoted Dawn report.

The Pakistan Constitution and rules of procedure of the house lay down that at least 20 percent or 68 members of the National Assembly have to sign a no-confidence motion against the premier, for it to be voted on. 


Meanwhile PM Khan asserted that his government would become stronger instead of being ousted. "We will defeat them in such a manner that they will not be able to recover until 2028," quoted Dawn as PM said.


The Prime Minister claimed that there were “multiple foreign hands” behind the opposition. 


PM Imran Khan is facing confrontation from the opposition on the issue of inflation. On Tuesday the Opposition leaders had signed a no-confidence motion against PM Khan which included members of Nawaz Sharif-led Pakistan Muslims League- Nawaz and Bilawal Bhutto-led Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

PPP Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on Tuesday, had given a 24-hour ultimatum to PM Khan to resign and dissolve the Assembly or face a no-trust motion.


Zardari pointed towards an alleged nexus between Imran Khan and the International Monetary Fund saying that the country has rejected economic policies of the government and is protesting against ‘PTIMF’ (PTI+IMF).
