New Delhi: Former dictator of Pakistan retired General Pervez Musharraf is “growing weak rapidly” due to an unspecified illness and cannot return to the country to face the treason case against him, The Dawn reported citing a senior leader of his party. According to the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) former chairman Muhammad Amjad, the former president of Pakistan has to visit London for treatment every three months due to this “new ailment.”

In March 2014, Musharraf was charged with suspending the Constitution on November 3, 2007. He, however, left the country in the year 2016 and since then has been declared a proclaimed offender.

Amjad informed The Dawn that Musharraf had a fracture in his spine for which he got treated in US but nowadays he is receiving treatment for a separate ailment, which the party cannot disclose to the nation immediately but will inform the court about it.

He was quoted as saying “Musharraf is growing weaker rapidly so we cannot put his life at risk."

He asserted that Musharraf wants to appear before the court and is in consultation with his legal team to decide when and how to return. APML party tried bringing Musharraf back to the country before July 25 general elections but “hurdles were created in his way”, said Amjad.

Musharraf was recently photographed watching India-Pak Asia Cup match in Dubai.
