The largest statue of BR Ambedkar outside India will be unveiled in Maryland, US on October 14. The 19-foot statue named 'Statue of Equality' has been sculpted by a renowned artist Ram Sutar who is also known for building the statue of Sardar Patel or the 'Statue of Unity' installed in Gujarat's Ahmedabad. The statue of Ambedkar, who is hailed as the 'Father of the Indian Constitution', is being installed as a part of the Ambedkar International Centre (AIC). The AIC is being built on 13 acres of land in Accokeek City of Maryland, reported the news agency PTI.
The AIC while talking to the media said, “This is the largest statue of Babasaheb outside India and has been installed as a part of the Ambedkar Memorial being constructed at this center.” It added, “A large number of representatives of the Ambedkarite movement and his followers are expected to attend the event from across the USA and other parts of the world."
As per the AIC, this memorial of Dr Ambedkar will spread his messages and teachings. The AIC said that it will also showcase a symbol of equality and human rights.
Representatives from across the world are expected to attend the statue unveiling ceremony in Maryland on October 14, reported PTI.
The AIC while inviting the people to attend this function wrote, "Be a part of this inspiring occasion as we honor Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to equality, human rights, and empowerment. Witness the grand unveiling of the magnificent statue, a symbol of his enduring influence. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere, surrounded by like-minded individuals passionate about social change. Engage in thought-provoking discussions, cultural performances, and pay homage to the great leader who dedicated his life to fighting injustice."
According to the AIC website, the event will begin at 10 am and will go on till 5:30 pm.
