New Delhi: Former Pakistani cricketer shared a bone-chilling video of the flood in Islamabad. He wrote in the post that he prays for everyone's safety. The capital city of Pakistan witnessed flooding following a cloudburst.
The video shared by Shoaib Akhtar, is from sector E-11 where huge amounts of water can be seen gushing, pushing two cars caught in the stream downwards.
He wrote, "This craziness has been witnessed by Islamabad this morning. These scenes are from sector E-11. I wish & pray for safety of everyone."
Earlier, the Office of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad confirmed the news and urged the public to avoid unnecessary movement for the next 2 hours.
"Cloudburst in Islamabad has caused floods in various areas. Teams are clearing nullahs/roads. Hopefully, we will be able to clear everything in an hour. Everyone is requested to plz cooperate and restricted unnecessary movement for the next 2 hours," Deputy Commissioner tweeted.
According to local media, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that rain wind/thundershower (with Isolated heavy fall) is expected in Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Dawn news, the police officials say that flooding in sector E-11 was due to "poor management" of private housing schemes and that there was no equipment available to deal with the situation. A mother and her son were killed in Islamabad on Wednesday as several areas of the capital experienced flooding after the cloudburst.
