Chinmoy Das Bail: Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote spokesperson, Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, was granted bail by the High Court in a sedition case related to the alleged desecration of the national flag. The Iskcon priest, Das, was arrested following a controversy that erupted when a sedition case was filed against him and 18 others in Chittagong last year. He was granted bail after six months`.

"He is expected to be released from the jail following the HC order, unless the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court stays the HC verdict,” Advocate Prahlad Debnath, a lawyer for Chinmoy, told The Daily Star.

On April 23, Chinmoy’s lawyer Apurba had urged the high court to consider bail, citing his client’s illness. However, the court had deferred its decision, stating that it would deliver a verdict after the scheduled hearing today.
