Israel’s defence system swiftly responded to an unprecedented Iranian attack late Saturday night. The Israeli army announced on Sunday that Iran’s extensive attack on Israel with hundreds of drones and missiles has successfully “foiled”, with 99 per cent of the hostile projectiles intercepted. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, a spokesperson for the Israeli military, confirmed the same in a televised statement, AFP reported.

Saturday night brought tensions to Tel Aviv as Tehran launched a significant wave of attack drones and missiles from its territory towards Israel. For the first time in history, the Jewish state found itself under direct attack by the Islamic Republic of Iran. With air raid sirens blaring across the country, the military of Israel sprang into action. Watch a few clips of how Tel Aviv responded Tehran’s unprecedented attack.

The Arrow air defence system played a crucial role in Israel’s defence strategy. Tasked with intercepting ballistic missiles, the Arrow system effectively neutralised the majority of the incoming threats. Fighter jets were also deployed, engaging cruise missiles and drones to mitigate the danger posed by Iranian assault, Reuters in a report said.

The response was relentless, with Israel’s defence forces remaining vigilant against evolving threats in the region following Israel’s recent conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The military remained on high alert while closely monitoring the situation and preparing for any further incursions. With tensions running high and the threat of further attacks looming, Israel has said that it braced itself for the challenges ahead.

Notably, US forces, deployed at undisclosed bases in the region, have provided critical support in intercepting Iranian drones en route to Israel, an AFP report said. Jordanian jets also joined the effort, downing dozens of drones flying across northern and central Jordan towards Jerusalem, the report said.
