Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a significant impact at the G7 Outreach session on Friday, engaging in crucial bilateral meetings and addressing key global issues. During the summit, PM Modi shared a warm hug with US President Joe Biden and exchanged handshakes with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
“It's always a pleasure to meet @POTUS @JoeBiden. India and USA will keep working together to further global good," PM Modi expressed on X (formerly Twitter).
In his social media updates, Modi also highlighted his interactions with other world leaders including President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil, Turkey President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres .
On the summit's sidelines, PM Modi held significant bilateral meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
PM Modi Highlights India's AI Mission, Energy Goals At G7 Outreach Session
Prime Minister Modi addressed the Outreach Session on Artificial Intelligence, Energy, Africa and the Mediterranean at the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy today. "He congratulated the Group on its 50th anniversary milestone," The Ministry of External Affairs informed in a statement.
Reflecting on his re-election, PM Modi noted, "It was a matter of great satisfaction for him to be attending the Summit after his re-election in the largest democratic exercise in the history of humankind." He emphasised the importance of a human-centric approach to technology, sharing India’s achievements in leveraging digital technology for public service delivery.
Discussing India's AI Mission, he said, "Talking of India’s AI Mission premised on 'AI for All,' Prime Minister emphasised that this technology should be aimed at fostering progress and well-being of all." He underlined India’s commitment to international collaboration as a founding member of the Global Partnership for AI.
On energy transition, PM Modi elaborated on India's strategy focusing on availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability. He mentioned, "India was working towards achieving the target of NET ZERO by 2070," and called on the global community to join the "Plant4Mother" tree plantation campaign launched on World Environment Day.
PM Modi also highlighted the importance of addressing the concerns of the Global South, particularly Africa, noting India's honour in having the African Union admitted as a permanent member of the G20 under its presidency.
