YouTube's ex-CEO Susan Wojcicki's 19-year-old son, Marco Troper, was reportedly found dead at his dormitory at the University of California, Berkeley, on February 13. His death and identity were confirmed by his grandmother Esther Wojcicki in a Facebook post on February 14.

Though the results of a toxicology report are yet to come, Marco's grandmother told the SFGATE News that his grandson is suspected to have died from a drug overdose.

"He ingested a drug and we don’t know what was in it. One thing we do know, it was a drug. We want to prevent this from happening to any other family," Esther told the media outlet.

In her Facebook post, she wrote, "My beloved grandson Marco Troper, age 19 passed away yesterday. Our family is devastated beyond comprehension" She also recalled her grandson as being the most loving, kind, smart, fun, and beautiful human being.

According to the news report, Marco was living at the Clark Kerr Campus, a housing campus at UC Berkeley. On February 13, around 4:23 PM (local time) he was found unresponsive, as per the details provided by UC Berkeley spokesperson Janet Gilmore.

Gilmore said that the University of California Police Department had been notified by the Berkeley Fire Department that it was "attempting life-saving measures" on Marco at his hostel.

However, he was pronounced dead by the time the UC campus police reached his hostel. Gilmore also stated that there were no signs of foul play and that the investigation into the teenager's death was on.

Esther shared that Marco was "just getting started" in his second semester at UC Berkeley and was majoring in Math. She also said that his Zeta Psi fraternity was "thriving academically" and had a strong friends community from his dorm at Stern Hall.

The family is currently awaiting a comprehensive toxicology report which is expected to take around 30 days, only after which they would know the circumstances under which they lost their son.
