New Delhi: US President Donald Trump today released a letter from North Korea’s Kim Jong Un called it a very nice note.

In the letter, the North Korean leader voices confidence in efforts to end their nuclear standoff while urging the US leader to take "practical steps" to build trust.

Trump took to Twitter to share the letter. He wrote: “A very nice note from Chairman Kim of North Korea. Great progress being made!"

He attached a copy of the letter, dated July 6.

In the letter, Kim describes the landmark June 12 summit between Trump and him as the "start of a meaningful journey" and expresses a confidence that the "sincere efforts" of both sides "will surely come to fruition."

Kim also voices hope that "the invariable trust and confidence in Your Excellency Mr President will be further strengthened in the future process of taking practical actions."

Kim has written: “I deeply appreciate the energetic and extraordinary efforts made by Your Excellency Mr President for the improvement of relations between the two countries and the faithful implementation of the joint statement.”

He has also expressed hope that the “epochal progress in promoting the DPRK-US relations will bring their next meeting forward.”
