New Delhi: British parliamentarian Lord Alexander Carlile was today denied entry into India on his arrival here for not having appropriate Indian visa, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said Carlile's intended activity in India was incompatible with the purpose of his visit as mentioned in his visa application. Kumar said the British national had arrived here yesterday without having obtained the appropriate Indian visa. "His intended activity in India was incompatible with the purpose of his visit as mentioned in his visa application. It was, therefore, decided to deny him entry into India upon arrival," he said yesterday responding to a query. Lord Alexander Carlile is a member of the House of Lords since 1999. As per reports the British national is a legal consultant to jailed former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. As per a report in Dhaka Tribune, Lord Carlile was reported to have travelled to New Delhi to hold a press conference "to explain the complexities in Khaleda Zia's case to the international media community".
