A German diplomat was discovered dead in the Diplomatic Enclave in Pakistan's Islamabad on Monday, according to police reports. The deceased, identified as Thomas Jurgen Bielefeld, 58, was serving as the second secretary at the German embassy, reported Pakistani news website Dawn.
Police stated that the diplomat was found at his residence in Karakoram Heights, a high-security area, with signs of bleeding from his eyes, nose, and mouth. Concerns arose when he did not report to work on Monday and failed to respond to phone calls from the embassy.
An embassy employee was dispatched to his residence after repeated attempts to contact him were unsuccessful. Receiving no response, embassy officials later arrived, forcibly opened the locks without initially notifying police, and discovered the diplomat deceased inside, the Dawn report stated.
The police were subsequently informed, and officers from the Secretariat police station arrived at the scene to transfer the body to a hospital. Preliminary information provided to the police indicated that the diplomat had a history of heart problems. The exact time of death remains unclear, although his WhatsApp activity was last recorded at 7:44 PM. on Saturday, police said.
Representatives of the German embassy declined to comment on the incident despite inquiries.
