While the counting of votes in underway for for the 294 seats in West Bengal that went for polling in eight phases, the early trends show Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress taking lead in the state with the grand challenger Bharatiya Janata Party not far away.
As of now, TMC has taken a lead on 196 seats while the BJP is ahead on 93.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Kailash Vijayvargiya while speaking to ABP News on Sunday said, "Too early to say anything because there are so many rounds. The situation will be clear only by evening. We had started from 3 & were challenged that we won't get even 100, we have crossed that mark. We will cross the magic number too."
After the 5th round of counting,TMC has crossed the magic number. TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has almost closed the gap in votes for the Nandigram seats. Didi now trails by just 3110 votes from the high-profile seat which can be alarming for BJP's Suvendu Adhikari who was leading by more than 7000 votes in the early trends.
As BJP claims 200+ seats, it is to be keenly seen if Mamta Banerjee is able to claim chief ministers' chair for the third consecutive time.
