Jalna/Aurangabad: After a video has gone viral showing Bharatiya Janata Party Youth Secretary Shivraj Nariyalwale being beaten up by Maharashtra's Jalna police, the police authorities have ordered a probe into the incident.
Jalna superintendent of police Vinayak Deshmukh has ordered a probe against several policemen after a video came to the limelight. Inspector general of Police K M Mallikarjun Prasanna said the inquiry into the incident will initiated by an Additional Superintendent of Police-rank official. Deshmukh said, "The viral video shows the man, Shivraj Narialwale, being beaten by police. The incident had taken place on April 9 in Jalna and an inquiry has been ordered...Action will be taken if needed."
Some angry youth entered into the ICU, and beat up doctors besides breaking glasses, stated police. It is when the police reached the spot, but youngsters fled, and Narialwale, a local BJP functionary was apprehended by police in the process, and the police team lathi-charged him, they said.
Meanwhile, the police on Thursday clarified about the incident stating that force was used to drive the BJP youth secretary out of a hospital premises where he and his family members had resorted to vandalising after the death of a patient. (WATCH VIDEO BELOW)
"Following death of a patient on April 10, his family vandalized hospital premises. Police used force against them to drive them out," Inspector Prashant Mahajan, Kadim Jalna Police Station, said.
Meanwhile several politicians, including Aurangabad MP Imtiaz Jaleel, took to social media demanding action against the policemen involved in the alleged thrashing. Senior BJP leader and ex-MP Kirit Somaiya also critisised the incident demanding a strict action against the officials.
"BJP Jalna Youth Secretary Shivraj Nariyalwale was beaten by police at Deepak Hospital on April 9, his video has now gone viral on social media. I have just spoken to Superintendent of Police Deshmukh. He has ordered an inquiry into the incident," Somaiya tweeted.
"I talked to Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Valse Patil (regarding) beating up of BJP Youth Secretary Shivraj Nariyalwale by the Jalna Police. The Minister has assured to do the needful," he added.
In a video message, BJP''s state unit vice president Chitra Wagh said, "If the youth has done any crime, there are laws to deal with him. Police has beaten the youth inhumanly and state home minister, DGP should act against the police personnel concerned."
