The Vespa Notte 125 is essentially the LX 125 with an all-black theme
Piaggio has launched yet another variant of its 125cc scooter in India. Called the Vespa Notte, it is based on the LX 125 and is priced at Rs 70,285. The Vespa Notte, which translates to night in Italian, was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. It features an all-black theme thanks to a matte black paint job, blacked-out mirrors, alloy wheels and exhaust muffler. The scooter seems to have been inspired by the GTS Notte sold in select international markets.
The lack of chrome parts has helped Vespa slash the price of the Notte by Rs 4,114, making it the most affordable Vespa in the country. It shares the same engine as the LX 125 it is based on. The 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor produces 10.6PS of power at 7500rpm and 10.6Nm of peak torque at 6000rpm, and is mated to a CVT. At 7 litres, it also features the largest fuel tank in its segment.
Built on a monocoque high rigidity steel structure, the Vespa LX 125 gets a conventional bottom link front suspension and a hydraulic monoshock at the rear. Sadly, there are no disc brakes available as Piaggio is only offering a 150mm and 140mm drum brake at the front and rear, respectively. The Notte's three-spoke alloy wheels are shod with 90/100-10 section tube tyres at both ends.
It competes with the likes of the Aprilia SR 125, Honda Grazia, TVS Ntorq and the recently launched Suzuki Burgman Street.
