His wife, Jill Biden who had received the vaccine earlier was present at the occasion.
"I am doing this to demonstrate that people should be prepared when it's available to take the vaccine. There's nothing to worry about," he said in a report by PTI.

After getting the shots, he wrote in a tweet that 'there is nothing to worry about'.
Vice President Kamala Harris praised Biden's step and wrote in a tweet 'This is what leadership looks like'. She is also set to receive the vaccine publicly next week. According to media reports, Biden along with former US presidents Barack Obama, George W Bush, and Bill Clinton had earlier promised that they will get vaccinated publicly. In an interview with a media outlet, Obama had said that once disease expert, Anthony Fauci, signs of the vaccine as safe, he will take it and may film it to instill confidence in people.
