Union Minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi on Sunday met with a road accident as his car collided head-on with a tractor in Odisha’s Balasore district. As per early inputs, the union minister, his assistant and the driver suffered minor injuries due to the accident.
Sarangi, the minister of state for fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying, himself informed about the incident saying that it happened on Nilagiri-Kaptipada road near Podasul area when he was going to Badheipala village in his Balasore Lok Sabha constituency.

"A Tractor hit my car today at Pudasul near Nilgiri when I was going to visit the distressed family members of a person who died in my constituency," Sarangi said in his tweet.
"Due to the grace of Lord Jagannath, the blessings of my revered mother and the good wishes of my people, I escaped with minor injuries to my nose. I am now fine. My PA, PSO in the car as also the Driver are also fine," he added.
According to media reports, the minister was taken to Nilagiri Sub-Divisional Hospital for first aid as he suffered nose and leg injuries. Later he complained of pain in his legs following which, he referred to Balasore District Hospital.

Taking a note of incident, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in twiter post wished Sarangi "a speedy recovery and good health."
Meanwhile, the local police confiscated the tractor. A case has been lodged.
