The Tata hatchback was spotted with mild cosmetic tweaks in Pune; likely to launch in November 2018
Tata is likely to launch the updated Tiago hatchback soon with minor cosmetic updates and added features. The carmaker, which is currently gearing up to launch the JTP performance variants of the Tiago and Tigor, is expected to launch the updated version of the regular hatchback later in November.
Just this month, Tata introduced the new Hexa XM+ variant, the Tiago NRG cross-hatch and the 2018 Tigor with an all-new XZ+ variant. The 2018 Tiago that was spied recently gets a similar set of updates to its exterior as the Tigor facelift which was launched recently, including new 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and what appears to be blacked-out projector headlamps. This leads us to believe that 2018 Tiago will also receive updates to the cabin with new features like the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display from the Tigor.
Like the refreshed Tigor, expect these features to be offered in an all-new, top-spec XZ+ variant. Tata is likely to can the XT variant to make way for the new variant. It is also likely that Tata will offer the Tiago with a driver airbag as standard, a safety feature now offered by competitors like the new Hyundai Santro and Datsun GO.
The Tata Tiago is unlikely to get any mechanical changes and will continue to be offered with the same 1.05-litre diesel engine (70PS/140Nm) and 1.2-litre petrol unit (85PS/114Nm). Both engines will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol also gets the option of a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
With the updates, we expect the new top-spec variant of the Tiago to be priced at a premium of around Rs 15,000 over the current price of Rs 5.63 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 6.05 lakh diesel variant (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
