The carmaker hasn’t announced if existing owners will be given the option to upgrade their infotainment systems

As promised, Tata Motors has added Apple CarPlay functionality to the Nexon’s infotainment system. Since its launch in September last year, the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the higher variants of the Nexon (XZ and XZ+) was only available with Android Auto connectivity.

Apple CarPlay allows seamless integration of one’s Apple iPhone to the car’s infotainment system to provide various functions, including calls, music playback and voice commands.

While new buyers of the Nexon will get Apple CarPlay functionality pre-installed in their vehicles, the carmaker has not confirmed whether existing owners will get an option to upgrade their infotainment systems or not. We believe Tata will provide the Apple CarPlay functionality to all existing customers, considering the feature can be added through a firmware update. This update has put the Nexon on par with its rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport.

Recently, the Tata Nexon also become the fourth made-in-India car to get a 4-star rating from Global NCAP after the Tata Zest, Toyota Etios and the Volkswagen Polo.
