Tamil Nadu Elections 2021: Come elections and political gimmicks come to the fore. Such is the case of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader Thanga Kathiravan who chose to wash clothes of people during his campaigning and promised to give washing machines after winning the electoral battle.


Kathiravan, who has been fielded by the AIADMK from the Nagapattinam assembly constituency, made the assurance during his door-to-door campaigning near Nagore earlier on Monday.

The AIADMK leader, who was accompanied by his supporters and party workers, sat down and washed the clothes for a few minutes during the campaigning in Vandipettai.


Kathiravan, who is contesting the assembly elections for the first time, reached out to the women voters and said that his party would take care of their needs and assured to give a washing machine to them so that they never have to hurt their hands while washing clothes.



Every cloth he rinsed was cheered by his supporters who made the entire event a political spectacle ahead of the state elections.

The AIADMK is contesting the elections in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) this time to counter M.K. Stalin-led Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and continue its winning streak in Tamil Nadu.


The single-phased Tamil Nadu Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on April 6 and the results for the same will be declared on May 2.
