The Skoda Octavia facelift was revealed in October last year. The new sedan features minor cosmetic changes and new equipment. It is likely to be launched in the Indian market in the coming weeks, and some dealers are already accepting bookings for the upcoming car. We recently drove the Octavia facelift in India and to read our first drive review, click here. However, let's quickly run through the primary changes in the new Octavia here.

Front End

The new Octavia can be distinguished from its predecessor from a glance at the front end, thanks to those split full LED headlamps. Some of you may like it, some may not, however, it has been globally criticised for those. Other changes include minor tweaks to the grille, air dam, fog lamps and the bumper. Overall, the Octavia facelift has a new front face.

Side

The Octavia facelift looks almost identical to its predecessor from the side. The only noticeable difference is the new fog lamp housing that is visible from the sides too. Also, the new Octavia comes with new set of 16-inch alloys.

Rear

The rear is also almost identical to the outgoing model. However, there are some minor tweaks to the rear bumper and the LED tail lamps which are hard to notice. Although the LED tail lamp has similar design as earlier, it comes with new graphics now.

Interiors

The first difference you will notice here is a bigger touchscreen infotainment system. The new Octavia has an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirrorlink as earlier. The new Octavia has ambient lighting on offer with multicolour option. The wood finish around the gear lever and climate control has been replaced by new glossy black inserts and the faux wood inserts in the door panel has also been replaced by brushed aluminium.

Engine

As far as mechanicals are concerned, it will be offered with the same 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine coupled to the 7-Speed DSG transmission, 1.4-litre TSI petrol coupled to a 6-speed manual and a 2.0-litre diesel engine coupled to 6-speed automatic transmission.

The new Skoda Octavia does look like a promising package and will give good competition to cars in its segment like the Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla Altis. Currently, the Octavia starts at Rs 15.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi); expect the new Octavia to be priced in the same range.
