The Skoda Octavia facelift, revealed in October last year, will finally hit Indian showrooms on July 13, 2017. However, we have already driven the new sedan on Indian roads, and to read our first drive review, click here. Authorised Skoda dealerships have been accepting bookings for the upcoming sedan since May 2017. The new sedan comes with minor cosmetic changes and new equipment.

The primary highlight of the new sedan is its split full-LED headlamps. While some people like it, some don't. The new Octavia also has minor tweaks to the bumper and grille, giving it a new front look. It has a set of 16-inch alloy wheels and new graphics for the LED tail lamps.

The changes are not just limited to the exterior but present in the interiors as well. The new Octavia comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and ambient lighting with a multicolour option. There's also new glossy black finish around the gear lever and climate control knobs, and new inserts in the door panel. You also get hands-free parking where you have to just brake and accelerate while the car steers itself.

In terms of mechanicals, the new Octavia remains almost identical to the outgoing model. You can choose between three engine options: a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine coupled to the 7-speed DSG transmission, a 1.4-litre TSI petrol coupled to a 6-speed manual, and a 2.0-litre diesel engine coupled to 6-speed automatic/ manual transmission.

The new Octavia is likely to be priced around the Rs 15 lakh mark and will primarily compete with sedans like the Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla Altis.
