In the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), nearly 43 lakh voters’ names have been removed from the electoral rolls in Madhya Pradesh. In Chhattisgarh, more than 27 lakh voters were deleted from the voter list during the same phase. The Election Commission of India on Monday published the Integrated Draft Electoral Roll for Madhya Pradesh under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision, marking the first major update of the state’s voter database in more than two decades.
Madhya Pradesh
In Madhya Pradesh, enumeration forms were collected from around 5.31 crore electors as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The exercise led to the deletion of 8.46 lakh deceased voters, 31.51 lakh electors who had shifted residence or were untraceable, and 2.77 lakh voters found to be registered at multiple locations.
The Election Commission said booth-level officers were unable to locate several electors or did not receive their enumeration forms as some had migrated to other states or Union Territories, could not be found to exist, failed to submit the required forms by December 18, 2025, or chose not to remain on the electoral rolls.
The poll body clarified that eligible voters whose names were removed can still apply for inclusion during the claims and objections period, which will remain open from December 23, 2025, to January 22, 2026.
Chhattisgarh
In Chhattisgarh, enumeration forms were collected from 1,84,95,920 electors during the revision process. The SIR resulted in the removal of 6,42,234 deceased voters, 19,13,540 electors who had shifted or were absent, and 1,79,043 voters found to be enrolled at more than one location.
The Election Commission said the Special Intensive Revision aims to enhance the accuracy of electoral rolls by eliminating duplicate and ineligible entries, while ensuring that genuine voters are given adequate opportunities to correct errors or restore their names before the final electoral lists are published.
