New Delhi: Shiv Sena Uddhav faction member and former trustee of Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Rahul Kanaal has lodged a complaint against Dhirendra Shastri at Bandra Police Station for the self-styled godman’s remark on Sai Baba.
The Yuva Committee core member has written to Mumbai Police and Uddhav Thackeray demanding a ban on Shastri’s entry in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar.
During an event in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur between March 25 and 31, Shastri had said that Sai Baba is “not a god”. “Sai Baba may be a saint but he can’t be a god,” he had said.
The remarks did not go down well with the followers of Sai Baba including Kanaal who demanded action against Shastri.
“I have been ex-trustee of the Sai Baba Trust and being a follower the letter I wrote clearly mentions...we come from land of Maharashtra where we have our faith in many god-like figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, and Sai Baba…” Kanaal told ABP News.
"If you want to speak about any saint or any god-like figure, then first think at least 10 times and read their history...what they said in their life,” he said.
He further criticised Shastri for his remarks saying “improve your life, words, and intention before delivering a sermon.”
Referring to the Supreme Court’s ruling on hate speech, Kanal said that a person is immediately arrested if they say anything about a politician then why no action on someone who said ill about a god-like figure.
