The safety net of ABS finally comes to the Bullet range at a premium of Rs 14,000

One of Royal Enfield’s most iconic models, the Bullet 500, has finally got ABS. The company has equipped the bike with a dual-channel ABS unit and priced it at a premium of Rs 14,000 over the standard variant. The Royal Enfield Bullet 500 ABS costs Rs 1.87 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Interested buyers can book the bike online through Royal Enfield’s website as well as at its showrooms for an amount of Rs 5,000. The standard non-ABS variant of the Bullet 500 will continue to be sold till stocks last.

Royal Enfield has been updating its entire lineup with dual-channel ABS in keeping with the new safety regulations that come into force from 1 April 2019. As per the norms, all bikes above the engine capacity of 125cc must have ABS. With this update, the only models from Royal Enfield’s portfolio in India yet to receive ABS are the standard Classic 350, the Bullet 350 and the Bullet 350 ES.

Apart from the addition of ABS, the rest of the Bullet 500’s mechanicals remain the same. It continues to be powered by a 499cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 27.5PS of power and 41.3Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike is also available in the same colour schemes as earlier, namely Black and Forest Green. Deliveries for the Royal Enfield Bullet 500 ABS are set to begin in February 2019.
