In a tragic aviation disaster on Thursday, at least 241 people were killed when an Air India flight bound for London crashed minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Among the victims was Roshni Rajendra Songhare, a member of the airline's cabin crew and a popular travel influencer on Instagram with over 54,000 followers.
Maharashtra MLA Ravinda Chavan confirms Roshni's death
Songhare's death was confirmed by Maharashtra MLA Ravindra Chavan, who mourned her passing on X (formerly Twitter), writing,"We are profoundly saddened by the tragic demise of Ms. Roshni Songhare from Dombivli in the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad. As a dedicated flight crew member, her untimely loss is a heart-wrenching tragedy. May her soul attain eternal peace."
Songhare was part of the 12-member cabin crew onboard the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, all of whom lost their lives in the crash.
Entire Cabin Crew Lost; 1 Lone Survivor
The aircraft, operating as flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kunder. The two senior cabin crew members were identified as Shradha Dhavan and Aparna Mahadik.

Officials reported that only one person survived the crash, a 40-year-old British national seated in 11A, who was seen walking away from the wreckage in Meghani Nagar, where the plane hit a medical students’ hostel, killing at least five students.
AI Crash Under Investigation
The flight took off from Runway 23, but within minutes, it plummeted into the densely populated Meghani Nagar locality. Footage of the incident shows the aircraft rising briefly after takeoff before nose-diving into the ground and exploding into flames.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has launched a formal investigation, adhering to international aviation safety norms outlined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
As India reels from one of its worst aviation disasters in recent memory, tributes continue to pour in for the victims, including for Roshni Songhare, who combined her love for travel and aviation with a growing social media presence.
