Mumbai: Amid raging controversy around the purchase of land for the Ram Temple premises in Ayodhya, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers protested outside Shiv Sena Bhavan, in Dadar, Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, a scuffle broke out between the Shiv Sena and BJYM workers during the protest. Upon acknowledging the incident, police intervened to control the crown. At least 40 BJYM workers have been detained.
The controversy continues to grow after since the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged corruption in the acquisition of the piece of land by the Ram mandir trust in March this year. The Samajwadi Party and the AAP held two separate press conferences on Sunday alleging that the land was purchased by the Ram mandir trust at an inflated price.
The SP leader Pawan Pandey and AAP’s Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh have sought a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleging that a piece of land worth Rs 2 crore was purchased for Rs 18.5 crore.
Reacting in the matter, Shiv Sena leader Raut on Monday demanded a clarification from the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust amid allegations of corruption in the land purchased by the trust in Ayodhya.
The Congress Party too commented on the issue with party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stating the misuse of donations by devotees is a sin.
Meanwhile, Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai called allegations of fraud in buying land for the Ram Mandir as misleading and politically motivated, adding that all temple land bought so far was at below open market price.
