The second-gen Ertiga will be equipped with the Ciaz’s 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology
The second-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which is already on sale in Indonesia, is set to be launched in India on 21 November. Dealerships across the country have started accepting bookings for the popular MPV, albeit unofficially since the carmaker is yet to make an announcement.
It has also been confirmed that the second-gen Ertiga will be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Arena dealerships and not the company’s premium Nexa retail outlets.
The second-gen Ertiga will be powered by a new 1.5-litre petrol engine with SHVS mild-hybrid tech. We’ve already seen this engine underneath the bonnet of the new Ciaz. In the Ciaz, this engine is tuned to produce 105PS @ 6000rpm and 138Nm of peak torque @ 4400rpm. We expect it to be offered in the same state of tune on the Ertiga as well. The diesel engine will remain the same as before - a 1.3-litre unit (produces 90PS/200Nm on the Ciaz) sourced from Fiat. Maruti hasn’t revealed any details about the transmission options yet. However, expect the Ertiga to be offered with the choice of a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic from the Ciaz facelift.
The second-gen Ertiga is likely to be priced a slight premium over the outgoing model. The current model is priced from around Rs 6.34 lakh and goes up to Rs 10.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
