New Delhi: The Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind’ Maharashtra unit has appealed to all the mosques in the state to take permission from the state government for the use of loudspeakers, reported news agency ANI.
The Maharashtra Home Department on Monday, had decided to implement the earlier court orders on the use of loudspeakers at religious sites. The state government will now make it mandatory for religious sites to take permission for using loudspeakers.
In view of this development, Gulzar Azmi, Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind secretary for Maharashtra unit said that most of the mosques in the state have taken permission from the for the use of loudspeakers.
"Most of the mosques in the state have taken permission from the police departments for using loudspeakers. However, I still appeal to mosques in the state who have not taken permission for the use of loudspeakers in mosques for Azaan to take the permission," he said.
Azmi further said that “the police in the state is very cooperative” adding that the police department is giving permission for the same.
Azami also appreciated the Maharashtra government for handling the issue of loudspeakers and said that the state government is working to provide justice to all.
Use of loudspeakers in the mosque had become a centre of politics in Maharashtra over last few days after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray warned the state government that if loudspeakers are not removed from mosques till May 3 then MNS workers will install speakers outside mosque and play Hanuman Chalisa.
