Expect prices of Maruti Suzuki cars to go up by upto 2 per cent

If you are planning to buy a new Maruti car, hurry up. The carmaker is planning to increase the prices of its entire portfolio, including Nexa products. The confirmation comes across through authorised dealers, who claim that the new prices will come in to effect from the first of June 2018. According to some reports, prices are expected to go by up to 2 per cent or by Rs 5,000 to 25,000, depending on the model.

As the price hike has not been officially announced yet, the reason behind it remains unknown for now. However, we believe it is being done to offset the increase in freight cost, which would have gone up due to the constant increment in fuel prices over the last few weeks.

Maruti is not the only carmaker set to increase prices from next month. Hyundai has also announced that it will increase prices across its lineup by up to 2 per cent, effective from June 2018. Increase in input cost, commodity prices along with freight and fuel prices are cited to be the reasons behind Hyundai increasing prices. Even Jeep has plans to increase the prices of the Compass SUV from June 2018.
