India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India reported 61.24 per cent growth in overall sales in August 2013 at 87,323 units as against 54,154 units sold in the corresponding month last year. Domestic sales for the company recorded 51.5 per cent growth in August at 76,018 units as against 50,129 units in the same month last year.
The biggest gainers have been the mini segment cars including Maruti 800, Alto series, A-Star and WagonR, with an increase of 45.1 per cent at 32,019 total units as against 22,062 units in the same month year ago. The compact segment which has Swift, Estilo and Ritz too managed to triple their sales. As against the last year's 6,059 units in August, this time the total sales of all the three cars went to 17,409 units.
