New Delhi: A 50-year-old man allegedly jumped in front of a train at Moolchand station on the Violet Line of Delhi Metro, causing disruption in normal services for a brief period. The incident took place Thursday, and the injured man is recuperating in hospital, news agency PTI reported.

According to the police, they received information at 5.04 pm Thursday that a person identified as Mahendar had sustained injuries at the Moolchand Metro station. Quoting a senior police officer, the report said the man jumped before a train when it reached platform number 1.

The police also said an injured Mahendar was sent to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where doctors said he was not fit to give a statement.

Taking to Twitter, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) alerted commuters on Thursday evening about the disruption in service. “Delay in services from Kashmere Gate to Badarpur Border due to a passenger on track at Moolchand. Normal service on all other lines.”

In a subsequent tweet, DMRC said normal service had been restored.

The Violet Line of Delhi Metro connects Kashmere Gate in Delhi and Raja Nahar Singh (Ballabgarh) in Haryana.
