As the dreaded Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc in Maharashtra, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope has indicated of complete lockdown in the state due to escalating oxygen shortage for Covid-19 patients. After the cabinet meeting, Maharashtra minister Aslam Sheikh said that Maharashtra is heading towards a complete lockdown and guidelines will be released soon in this regard.


Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that all state Ministers have requested Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to announce a complete lockdown in the state from 8 pm tomorrow. 



In view of the increasing Covd-19 cases, curfew and lockdown-like restrictions have been imposed in Maharashtra till 7 am on May 1.


On Monday, 58,924 new cases of Coronavirus have been reported in Maharashtra and 351 people died due to the dreaded infection, as per the state health department.


Total number of Covid-19 cases in the state have increased to 38,98,262 while the death toll has increased to 60,824.  There are 6,76,520 active cases in the state.  During the day, 52,412 people were discharged from hospitals, so far the number of people who have recovered from the virus have increased to 31,59,240.
