21-year-old Naveen ul Haq was seen verbally intimidating and sledging at senior Pak pacer Amir while the latter was batting. Things got heated further after the match with visuals showing Munaf Patel and other cricketers trying to intervene and calm the situation between the two of them,
As players from both sides were greeting each other after the match, Shahid Afridi, skipper of Galle Gladiators, was seen smiling until Naveen came up and Afridi asked him what he was saying to Amir. 'Kya Hua [What Happened],' he asked to which the young pacer retorted even as he tried to clarify his stance.
A Pakistani journalist claimed Afridi told Naveen "Son I was scoring 100s in international cricket before you were born".
The incident reignited the rivalry between Pakistan and Afghanistan as fans from both sides have been going all out at each other on social media.
Brendan Taylor’s half-century guided Kandy Tusker to a massive total of 196 runs in their 20 overs. In response, Danushka Gunathilaka played a smashed 82 off 53 balls but could not take the Gladiators to the finish line.
