Kia has opened up its order books for the upcoming Seltos compact SUV. It will be offered in two trims when it gets launched on August 22. Now, we also know which powertrain options will be offered with respect to the two variants, Tech Line and GT Line. The Tech Line variant will be available with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines in both manual and automatic options. Meanwhile, the sportier-looking GT Line trim of the Seltos will only be offered with the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which also gets a choice of both manual and automatic transmissions.
All the three engines of the Kia Seltos are already BS6-compliant, which would make it the first compact SUV to offer that. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine will be the most powerful offering in the segment and the 1.5-litre engines will be introduced in the next-gen Hyundai models for India. The Kia Seltos will be well equipped in both Tech Line and GT Line trims, with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats and a 7-inch multi-information display in the instrument cluster. It will also be the first in its segment to be equipped with an 8-inch heads-up display unit. The infotainment system also gets an eSIM for internet connectivity and Kia’s own UVO Connect range of connected features. Other premium features of the Seltos include multi-colour ambient lighting that can sync with the music, which can be enjoyed through the 400W Bose audio system. Kia is expected to price the Seltos between Rs 10 lakh and 16 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be competing in the compact SUV segment against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and Captur. Its pricing will also bring it into contention with more affordable variants of the MG Hector and Tata Harrier 5-seater SUVs.
