Three persons have been booked for allegedly posting an obscene picture falsely depicting it as Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar on social media platforms. Based on a complaint filed by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee member Harish Nagaraju, High Grounds Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act in Bengaluru on April 30.
The FIR named the three persons Santosh Nelamangala, Kesari Samrat and Rajesh Gowda.
The FIR revealed that the complainant accused individuals of sharing an old obscene image, falsely depicting it as Shivakumar, on Instagram and Facebook on April 25 and 29. Allegedly, the Facebook post was shared by an account identified as "BSY" supporters, and it was purportedly defamatory towards the Deputy Chief Minister.
A senior police official, as per PTI said, "Based on a complaint received, we have registered an FIR against the suspects and an inquiry into the matter is underway."
Meanwhile, the post has come at a time when Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former PM Deve Gowda, is under fire for his alleged involvement in a sex scandal in Karnataka. It is alleged that Prajwal reportedly sexually abused multiple women over the period from 2019 and 2022.
The issue came to light after videos of some of the crimes were circulated among voters in Hassan. The controversy intensified after a pen drive with over 2000 videos related to the allegation was also circulated.
While some alleged that Prajwal was in his hideout, a few others said that he flew to Germany.
Amid the controversies, Hassan MP took to X and said, Truth will prevail"
"As I am not in Bangalore to attend the enquiry, I have communicated to C.I.D Bangalore through my advocate," he said.
The next phase of Lok Sabha elections is scheduled in Karnataka on May 7.
