New Delhi: A huge Indian flag now covers the building of the Indian High Commission in London, UK hours after Khalistani supporters pulled down the national flag to protest against the crackdown on Amritpal Singh in Punjab. A photograph of the flag adorning the walls of the buildings has gone viral on social media.

BJP's Jaiveer Shergill shared the photograph on Twitter and said, "“Jhanda Ooncha Rahe Hamara”- UK Govt must act against those miscreants who attempted to disrespect Indian Flag at High Commission, London. Punjab & Punjabis have a glorious track record of serving/protecting the Nation. Handful of jumping jacks sitting in UK do not represent Punjab."

Earlier on Sunday, following a massive manhunt for Kahlistan sympathiser Amritpal Singh in Punjab, his supporters in London created a ruckus at the Indian High Commission building.

Supporters of Khalistan staged a demonstration in front of the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom, waving Amritpal Singh-themed flags and posters.

To the chants of "Khalistan Zindabad," a man was seen scaling the walls of the Indian High Commission in social media videos.

The senior-most UK diplomat in New Delhi was summoned by the Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday to express India's strong disapproval after pro-Khalistani groups replaced the Tricolour at the Indian High Commission in London.

As per an official statement, "an explanation was demanded for the complete absence of the British security that allowed these elements to enter the High Commission premises. She was reminded in this regard of the basic obligations of the UK Government under the Vienna Convention."

"Finds unacceptable the indifference of the UK Government to the security of Indian diplomatic premises and personnel in the UK," the statement said.

The attack comes at a time when the Punjab government has launched a full frontal offensive against Khalistani radical sympathiser Amritpal Singh. Although the Police has managed to capture several of his aides, Amritpal Singh has remained elusive so far, say the cops. However, his father said that he has been arrested. Amritpal Singh had become active in Punjab over the past few weeks.
