New Delhi: Senior Farm leader Balbir Singh Rajewal on Sunday said that the farmers will write an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning their demands including the formulation of the MSP committee, withdrawal of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020, among various others.
The senior farm leader further said that the letter will also demand that PM Modi sack Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) will meet again on November 27 to deliberate on the next course of action, while the farmers' scheduled march to Parliament on November 29 will go through as planned, according to farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal.
"We discussed the repeal of farm laws. After this, some decisions were taken. SKM's pre-decided programs will continue as it is. Kisan panchayat will be held in Lucknow on November 22, gatherings at all borders on November 26 and march to Parliament on November 29" the Senior Farm leader said while addressing the press conference at Singhu border.
PM Modi announced on Friday that the three farm laws will be repealed by the centre during the winter session of parliament, which will begin on November 29, 2021. “Today, I have come to tell you, the whole country, that we have decided to withdraw all three agricultural laws," he said.
Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have been protesting at Delhi's borders since November 26, 2020, asking that the regulations be repealed. The Supreme Court suspended the execution of three agricultural regulations after many rounds of discussions between the government and farmer groups failed to stop the demonstrations.
PM Modi also announced the formation of a committee comprising representatives of the central government, state governments, farmers, agricultural scientists and agricultural economists to ensure decisions on various issues related to agriculture, including making the minimum support price (MSP), are more “effective and transparent.
