New Delhi: Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha from Congress party, Ravneet Bittu received a threat call on his personal assistant’s mobile phone on Tuesday saying that the parliamentarian will meet the same fate as his late party colleague and singer Sidhu Moose Wala, reported news agency PTI.
Bittu’s personal assistant, Harjinder Singh claimed that the call was received from an unknown caller, as per the report.
The unknown caller threatened that Bittu will meet the same fate as Moose Wala, he said.
Ravinder Bittu is the grandson of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh who was assassinated in 1995.
Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was murdered on May 29 by unidentified assailants, just a day after the Punjab Government had withdrawn his security along with 424 others.
Earlier on Sunday, Bollywood actor Salman Khan had also received a threat letter in which it was written that he and his father will meet the same fate as Moose Wala.
On Tuesday, Punjab police said that they have arrested eight people in connection with the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala.
A person who had disguised himself as a fan and took selfie with the singer and later shared information about Moose Wala to the shooters was amongst the people arrested, the police added.
As per the police, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also identified four shooters.
“Man who disguised as a fan clicked selfies with Sidhu Moose Wala and shared information with shooters also held. SIT has also identified four shooters of Sidhu Moose Wala,” the police said.
The police said that at least eight persons have been arrested in connection with the case. The police says that these people had provided logistical support, conducted recce and harboured shooters of Moose Wala.
“Police have arrested at least eight persons for providing logistic support, conducting recce and harbouring the shooters of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, who was shot dead on May 29,” the police added.
