BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who levelled bribery allegations against TMC Mahua Moitra, will on Thursday appear before the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha to record his statement along with lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai. Ahead of the first meeting of the panel on the matter, Dubey told media that he would provide all the information he has to the committee and would be available at all times.

He said, "I will give all the information which the Committee asks me to provide. I will appear before the Committee whenever it asks me to do so. Right now my answer is: Is Mahua a chor or not?

Lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai also appeared before the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha to record his statement in connection with the case.

Dubey had accused Moitra of taking bribes and in his complaint to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had cited documents shared by Dehadrai with "irrefutable evidence of bribes exchanged" between Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani to allegedly target the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his complaint, Dubey has accused Moitra of breach of parliamentary privilege, contempt of the House, and criminal conspiracy.

"Oral Evidence of Shri Jai Anant Dehadrai, Advocate in respect of complaint dated 15 October, 2023 given by Dr. Nishikant Dubey, MP against Smt. Mahua Moitra, MP for alleged direct involvement in cash for query in Parliament. Oral evidence of Dr. Nishikant Dubey, MP, in respect of complaint dated 15 October, 2023 given by him against Smt. Mahua Moitra, MP for alleged direct involvement in cash for query in Parliament," said the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee's schedule for Thursday.

Responding to Dubey's allegations, Mahua had said she welcomed the CBI to probe the matter. She also tweeted, "Multiple breach of privileges pending against fake degreewala and other BJP luminaries. Welcome any motions against me right after Speaker finishes dealing with those. Also waiting for ED and others to file FIR in Adani coal scam before coming to my doorstep."
