New Delhi: In what can be termed as an achievement for the security forces, Zeenat-ul-Islam, one of the most wanted terrorists, was on Saturday decimated in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The killing of Zeenat has created an outrage among the supporters of the terrorist and other militants in the valley. The funeral procession of Islam, who was also a close aide of Burhan Wani, saw violent clashes between his supporters and security forces.

Here are some things to know about the terrorist, who death has created unrest among other militants:

  • Terrorist Zeenat-ul-Islam was a commander in Al-Badr, a terror group that was allegedly formed by the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence in June 1998.

  • Zeenat-ul-Islam, was one of the dreaded and oldest terrorists had been a commander of Hizbul Mujahideen previously.

  • He was a close aide of slain terrorist Burhan Wani.

  • He had switched over to the Al-Badr from the Hizbul Mujahideen in November last year following agreement between the two outfits to strengthen the Al-Badr

  • A video of him and other terrorists eating ‘biriyani’ went viral last year.

  • He was a category A++ militant and was active since 2015.

  • He was included in the most wanted list of terrorists in the year 2017 by the Army.

  • Islam had a bounty of Rs 12 lakh on him.

  • After Zeenat, now only two terrorists have remained on the hit list of the Army, which included Riyaz Naiku and Zakir Musa.

  • The Army had released a list of 12 wanted terrorists.

  • Zeenat had a bachelor in science degree.
