According to doctors, the white fungus develops in patients who are given oxygen to treat COVDI - 19 and is more common in people with cancer. The white fungus also shows symptoms similar to black fungus and corona.  Doctors say the same test procedure is the same as it is for corona.


White Fungus Cases Reported In Several States - Know Symptoms & Who Are At Risk


 


Just like the dreaded black fungus or Mucormycosis disease, the white fungus can also affect a patient's immune system. People with diabetes and those who take steroids for a long period of time are more likely to contract the fungal disease which is said to be more dangerous than Black Fungus.


 


What Is White fungus?


 


Currently, there are complaints about white fungus infection following Coronavirus and black fungus (Mucormycosis). At a time when India is grappling to cope up with the second wave of Covid-19 along with significantly rising cases of black fungus, the white fungus has brought new challenges for medical experts. Now, the newly found white fungus has created panic amongst people in various states of the country.


 


Four people, including a doctor, have been diagnosed with the white fungus in Bihar and similar cases are being reported in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and other states.


 


What are the symptoms of white fungus?


 


Cough

Diarrhea


 


Black dots and lack of oxygen in the lungs


 


Medical experts say that white fungus, also known as Aspergillosis, is four times deadlier than black fungus. These fungi are said to infect the lungs, nails, skin, stomach, kidneys, mouth, and genitals and most importantly children are said to be at higher risk of catching the disease.


The white fungus also shows symptoms similar to black fungus and coronavirus.


 


 


Why children are at higher risk?


 


The chances of catching white fungus are higher in children and women. The white fungus causes a fungal infection called candidiasis in the anal area in diaper-wearing babies.


 


According to doctors, patients who are on oxygen support during their Covid-19 treatment or have cancer are most likely to contract the white fungus. It is also observed that people with diabetes and those who take steroids for a long period of time are more likely to be affected.


 


Doctors advise to sanitize the ventilator and oxygen injector and keep it hygienic to prevent white fungus.
