West Bengal Elections: As a voluble fight between BJP and TMC for West Bengal has already begun ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on Thursday, addressed the Hindi speaking populace of the state and said that they should cast more votes than the Bengalis. In a speech aimed at wooing the non Bengali speaking voters, Banerjee said that the TMC government will show what can it do for them in the days to come.
Appealing the Hindi-speaking population in the state to support her in the upcoming Assembly elections, she accused the saffron party of creating a divide between Bengalis and non-Bengalis.
“You have a bigger responsibility here. This time I want that more than Bengalis, you cast your vote in our favour, and in the future, we will show what we can do for you,” Banerjee said.
Attacking the BJP she said: “They said they will teach me Hindi. What do they know? I will hold them by the ears and teach them Hindi. I can read Hindi very well. They cannot. They read after seeing the Teleprompter. I know Gujarati as well.”
Addressing herself as a “street-fighter” Banerjee asked the Biharis, Punjabis and Marwaris not to be swayed by anyone.
Speaking on the Republic Day violence which erupted during the tractor rally of farmers Mamata defended the protesters and said that the farmers are not at fault.
