New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department in its weather forecast has predicted rain in many states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, there is a possibility of snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next few days.
According to the India Meteorological Department, scattered showers are likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh from December 1 to 2. Thunder/lightning is likely to occur in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan on December 2. Heavy to very heavy rain is also likely to occur in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in north coastal Andhra Pradesh on December 3 and December 4, coastal Odisha from December 3 to December 5 and West Bengal from December 4 to December 5.
The MeT predicted snowfall in higher altitude regions of North India. The department said isolated parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are likely to receive light to widespread rain and snowfall between December 1 and 3.
Rain and snowfall in many states will result in a drop in mercury in the next few days, the weather forecast said.
