Weather Update: Amid the monsoon season, rainfall lashed parts of Mumbai on Tuesday morning as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert rainfall warning for Maharashtra. Mumbai has been seeing heavy downpour and waterlogging for a few weeks now, which has hampered commuters and disturbed the day-to-day lives of residents.


Maharashtra is set to receive extremely heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next few days. "Isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over Gujarat State, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra on 23rd & 24th July, IMD said in its latest bulletin.






"Very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh on 23rd & 24th; Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat State 25th &26th; West Madhya Pradesh and Odisha on 23rd & 24th July," the weather bulletin read.






As far as the national capital is concerned, light to heavy downpour is likely in the city. Delhi has been witnessing rainfall in several parts resulting in waterlogging causing issues to commuters.


Rainfall Alert In Multiple States


Besides Maharashtra, the IMD has issued rainfall alerts in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. A red alert has been issued in Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra for July 23 and 24, predicting isolated, extremely heavy rainfall in the regions.


On the other hand, the weather office has issued an orange alert in East Madhya Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha for July 23 and 24.


In Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat State, an orange alert has been issued for July 25 and 26, indicating very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in the region. 


An orange alert has also been issued in Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana for July 23 and in East Rajasthan for July 23 and 24.
